FAQ

Questions we get asked.

Including the awkward ones about pricing, partnership status and what we will not claim. If your question is not here, email info@amazonconsultingllc.com.

Services and scope

What does Amazon Consulting LLC actually do?

Three things. We do ServiceNow platform work — architecture, CMDB and CSDM, application portfolio management, workflow delivery and platform audits. We do AI work — readiness, roadmaps, governance, and building AI applications, including AI on the ServiceNow platform. And we sell a small set of packaged AI products aimed at common business problems like scheduling, triage and customer questions.

Are you a ServiceNow partner or reseller?

No. We are an independent consulting firm. We do not resell ServiceNow licenses and we are not endorsed by ServiceNow, Inc. That independence is deliberate: our recommendation on what to build, buy or skip is not tied to a license quota. ServiceNow and its product names are trademarks of ServiceNow, Inc.

Do you work with small businesses or only enterprises?

Both, but the work looks different. Enterprise engagements are usually platform architecture, governance and delivery. Small-business work is usually one of our AI products deployed and integrated, or a short advisory engagement. We will tell you if your need is too small to justify a consulting engagement — sometimes the honest answer is a product and two days of configuration.

Can you work inside our existing delivery process and tools?

Yes. We have worked as product owner, scrum master, architect and developer inside other organizations’ teams, in Azure DevOps, Jira and more traditional gated environments. Tell us which seat needs filling and how your team works.

Where are you based, and do you work remotely?

We are based in McKinney, Texas, and most of our work is delivered remotely. We travel for workshops, discovery sessions and key milestones when it genuinely helps, and we will say when we think in-person time is worth the cost.

AI, governance and ServiceNow AI

What is AI Control Tower?

It is ServiceNow’s control center for enterprise AI. In general terms, it gives you one place to inventory AI agents, models and use cases, apply governance and risk controls, manage their lifecycle from proposal to retirement, and report on adoption, cost and outcomes. Capabilities change between releases, so confirm specifics against the official ServiceNow documentation for your version.

Do we need AI Control Tower if we already use Now Assist?

They address different problems. Now Assist delivers AI capability inside workflows; AI Control Tower governs and measures AI across the organization, including AI that did not come from ServiceNow. With one or two Now Assist use cases, a governance build may be premature. With several, plus AI arriving through other vendors, the inventory and approval gap is usually already a live problem.

How long does AI governance setup take?

A focused implementation covering inventory, intake, approvals, risk tiering and initial dashboards typically runs ten to fourteen weeks, including a pilot on real use cases. Large federated organizations, or those with heavy regulatory evidence requirements, should expect longer and should phase the work.

Should governance come before or after our first AI use cases?

Alongside, in proportion. Blocking a first pilot until a full framework exists wastes months; scaling to a dozen use cases with no inventory or approval path creates a problem that is expensive to unwind. A lightweight intake and risk-tiering gate can be in place in weeks, and should be before you scale.

Will you tell us what ROI to expect from AI?

Not as a headline number, and we would be wary of anyone who does without seeing your data. We build ROI models using your volumes, costs and baselines, and we label the output as a projection with its assumptions visible. Anything framed as a delivered result would need to come from your own measurement after launch.

Do you help with AI policy and regulatory compliance?

We help you design governance that aligns with recognized frameworks such as the NIST AI Risk Management Framework and ISO/IEC 42001, and we help you produce the evidence those frameworks expect. We are not a law firm, we do not certify compliance, and determining which regulations apply to you is a judgment for your legal counsel.

What if our data is not ready for AI?

That is the common case, and it is usually fixable in a targeted way. We assess readiness against the specific use cases you intend to build, separate genuine blockers from general improvements, and sequence so you can start where you are already ready while fixing the rest in parallel.

Products

Are your products off-the-shelf software or custom builds?

In between. Each product is a packaged solution we have built and can deploy relatively quickly, then configure to your content, rules and systems. There is always a configuration and integration phase — typically two to eight weeks — because the value depends on fitting your actual process.

Where do the products run, and who holds the data?

Either on infrastructure we manage or inside your own cloud account, which is the usual choice when data residency or internal policy requires it. Data retention, access and logging are agreed and documented before launch in both cases.

Will your products integrate with the systems we already use?

Often, but we confirm it rather than promise it. We deliberately do not publish a list of certified integrations, because feasibility depends on what your specific system and version expose. We check it during scoping and tell you plainly if an integration is not practical.

Can we try a product before committing?

We can demonstrate the product and, for most of them, run a scoped pilot against your real data or content so you see realistic behavior rather than a polished demo. Contact us to arrange a demo and to discuss what a pilot would involve.

Engagement, pricing and security

How do you price your work?

Assessments and audits are fixed-price against a defined scope. Delivery work is usually time-and-materials with a sprint cadence, or fixed-price where the scope is genuinely fixed. Staff augmentation is a monthly rate. Products are quoted on volume and integration scope. We do not publish rate cards because scope drives price too heavily — contact us for pricing against your specific need.

How quickly can you start?

Assessment and advisory work can usually begin within two to three weeks of a signed scope. Staffing depends on current availability for the specific skill. Tell us your date and we will give you a straight answer rather than an optimistic one.

How do you handle access to our systems and data?

With the least access that lets us do the work. We prefer read-only access to sub-production environments, we request production access only when the deployment model requires it, and we follow your access provisioning, review and revocation process. Access requirements are agreed in writing before an engagement starts.

Will you sign an NDA, MSA and data processing agreement?

Yes. We work under NDA routinely, and we expect your standard master services agreement and data processing terms to apply. If your procurement process requires a security questionnaire or vendor assessment, send it over.

What happens at the end of an engagement?

Handover is part of the scope rather than an afterthought: documentation, a runbook, and a session with the people who will own the work. For staff augmentation, knowledge transfer is scheduled before the end date. The test we aim for is whether your team can maintain what we built without calling us.

Still have a question?

Ask it directly. We would rather answer a hard question early than discover it mid-engagement.
